| Yes Dan I too understand the downfalls of what VA4WDA has or has not done in the past. The problem with your thinking is nothing will get done at all. It is hard enough to get people involved with a group support. Almost nothing will get done with out them. What I say is, give them a chance under the new leadership. A group is going to have more say, no matter what, as compared to the individual. (unless you have a bunch of money) The larger the group the more what they say will have some impact on the government. It is not a perfect world but I am willing to try. I know you are and have. If you can find another organization, here in Virginia, that is trying to do the same as VA4WDA let us know. I will join them too. Otherwise I will give my $15.00 to VA4WDA and try to help them make some type of impact. |
I understand totally your view. But my point is VA4WDA has gotten away from issues facing our past-time, and has moved into another direction. VA4WDA no longer fights the fights to preserve our sport; rather, VA4WDA has turned into a club focused more on wheeling at private venues and raising just enough money to sponsor the next wheeling event.
The face of OHV has changed. There are far too many rules and regulations when it comes to developing land within the national forest. They won. The only thing we can do is try and keep what we got left. Slowly, they're taking that, too. VA4WDA has had since 1981 to stop it. They haven't. Lets revisit your "new membership" in 3 years and see what has happened. I got the same speech from Gregg Jackson 3 or 4 years ago.
The only thing we as avid OHV'ers can do, at this point, is do what Texas did years ago.

VA4WDA is too committed to running a club now. They lost sight of their mission many years ago.
