As always, let us know what you think of Willow Hill. We will be updating plans for next year to improve the event with your input. I know several folks have discussed changing the layout of the site to open up the vendors area a bit, and better marking of the trails. Give us the good and the bad, and thanks for attending.
-UPDATE-
WE are ordering dash plaques and when they come in we will be mailing them to all who were registered.

I had a great time even though I smashed my passenger side door in and lost the mirror as well. The location and all the trails were great! I will definitely be back next year.
I was not there when they did the raffle for the tent and I wanted to know if someone there won it or if they were still waiting to here from the person with the winning raffle ticket. If they are still waiting for the winning ticket, what was the winning ticket #?
I also left my 2 inch coil spacers at the swap meet tent and forgot to pick them or the money up for them if they sold. Who can I get in touch with to see about getting the spacers or the money they fetched back into my hands?
Once again I had a blast and I want to thank everyone who had anything to do with the orginaztion of the MAR.

My son and I had a wonderful time. Prob. the funnest in the past 9 MAR's I've attended, even though I didn't get back to Pearl's before it closed. Like to find out what was up with that.
I liked the camp layout, what a beautiful place.
Were the metal dash plaques given out this year?
Many thanks to all the wonderful volunteers, the Scouts, sponsors and landowners.
And we enjoyed the bands and food too!

spacers sold and the funds were with Mrs. Joel.
The kids and I had a blast. Really liked the property- hope some longer trails can be developed.
I too missed the metal dash plaques-have those going back to the early 90's. Had a lot of people stop by Rally Control asking about them when I was working it Saturday afternoon.

My family and I all had a great time, and I thought Willow farm was a good location. I sure hope they will take us back Thanks to everyone who worked to make the event happen.
Things I'd like to see different to make it even better:
1. Ditch the live music or at a minimum don't have them play during the dinner. It was impossible to have a conversation during the meal it was so loud. Or have a bandstand 100 ft away from anything so you can enjoy the music in the background unless you want to go site right in front of it. Yeah I'm getting old. But I say ditch it and use the money for other stuff. Have a poll to confirm if anyone actually wants it.
2. Have big message board (pin board or something) so people who are trying to connect up with others can leave messages. Most cell phones don't work there.
3. Consider having a sprint based "pay phone" available for use at rally control, or better yet offer the service of also taking messages and putting them on the message board.
4. Have a *cheap* shower solution. I'm thinking a few pallets with some chicken coop flooring zip tied to it, and a container truck full of water and a pump. Just something to be able to get a shower with if needed.
5. As I understand it, the access to Pearl's Pond was closed due to some individuals acting inappropriately. I think they should be identified and publicly humiliated. Everyone should be encouraged to stop people doing stupid things and ruining it for the rest of us. I was a bit surprised there as no mention of this at the dinner/raffle/auction. How else are people to know what's inappropriate unless it's communicated. Also if anything was damaged, let's get a group together to go down and fix it.
Again thanks for a great event.

Charles, we had permission to use the lower parts of the farm but not near the house. We had tape and signs up to make it clear as well as the updated maps, but the Sat. morning issue caused problems. I spoke to the land owner and his wife personally Sat. afternoon after he ran into some other trucks on the property. I also spoke to Louise and Stuart. Everything is fine, and the trails near the house were not damaged. Mr. Adamson was at Willow Hill Saturday night hanging out with people, and the younger Cassell was at the mud course. They suggested a possible event for next summer there.

Well, I thought that it was a good time socially, but the trails on the Willow Hill property were a disapointment. They were short and by the time you started to have fun you were at the end or they were a sloppy mess and impassable. I know that alot of that had to do with the weather. Pearls Pond is the key to MAR at Willow Hill next year.
There needs to be a better way to communicate with people on site. On Friday there was someone driving around and stopping at groups of people saying pearl's pond was closed until noon and people didn't seem to pay much attention. I heard saturday morning that it was also closed until the afternoon. While at the mud bog I asked if they were open and no one knew. After leaving poor boys we rode over to pearl's pond and encountered several trucks on the road leaving then an open gate at the entrance which made me think it was open, but there is still some confusion on that. We did encounter a large group that was also on the property. It is my understanding that shortly after that group made it out the gate was actually shut. If there had been a problem early in the morning this should have been communicated to the group as a whole and access to the property should have been shut off. One of those message boards that are used for special events and road work could have been used. They can be rented form sunbelt.
The Raffle seemed to be lacking this year. Is it possible to put out a list of what is being raffled off so people know what they are winning. I KNow people who bought lots of tickets and there wasn't anything winable that matched their tickets in terms of dollars spent. (other than the watch)
Over all I Had a good time hanging out with people and don't regret going.

This was a great event all around, great venue and trails. Volunteering along side some of the ROAV staff gave me a much better appreciation of the hard work and long hours that go into MAR, so hats off to all of you who make this event happen!

I had a great time I agree that the communication was lacking.
The trails on the property were weak but it was the first year The use of Pearls Pond is a necessity.
The camping was great I agree that some shower facility is necessary It would have been nasty if it had rained through the weekend The old shallow areas in the river that are at PP were great if we get access.
Where are the dash plaques???

Had a great time - thanks to Christina and team for putting on a great event. Here are a few comments:
1) Camping location was great - plenty of room to stretch out.
2) Trails were ok - a bit short, but, I'm confident they will improve over time. My suggestion would be they need to be marked much better (trails 8 and 3 & 4) as an example.
3) Pearl's Pond - loved being back there - just need to figure out a way to get to the Yellow / Green trails without having to trek through Red.
Oh - my brother-in-law won the tent - looking forward to getting that on the LR3 or D90.
