The ROAV Board of Directors and its Officers are pleased to announce the 2010 MAR will be held on the Willow Hill Farm, right on the James River in Buckingham County, not far from the Pearl's Pond location.

This years Mid Atlantic Rally marks the 35th anniversary of ROAV – originally known as ROAR (Rover Owners Association of Richmond). We are deep into planning the MAR and we will be announcing trail work weekends as well as more details about the location, registration and schedule of events as they become available. Stay tuned!

Until then, Save the Date - September 30 - October 3!

See you then,

Is there a reason MAR pre-registration isn't up and online @ the store ?
It seems to me the with only 6 weeks before the event this should be a very high priority otherwise prospective attendee's will make other plans, and seemingly event planners need a handle on what attendence might be.
In years past pre registration closed around Sept 15th or was it earlier ?

good morning, we should have registration up on Monday. With a new site some of the expenses have changed so we are making sure we cover our expenses without overcharging.

Eric May is in charge of sponsors and vendors, and Nancy McCaig is handling hopitality, food and such.

I know this has been brought up previously, but the wife would like to know if there will be showers available?

Details will be up Monday, but at the moment showers are not part of the plan due to the expense.

Dang. I guess I'm out. No way is my rev limiter going for that for 4 days.

Is there a cheap hotel really close by?

there are several, in Scottsville and the area. The property has about a mile of frontage on the river, some folks used to throw on a swim suit and take a dive to shake of the dust. That will be much easier here, there is something of a beach on the riverfront, albeit with pebbly [img] Last edited by ukoffroad on Thu Aug 12, 2010 10:13 PM; edited 1 times in total

I called the fork union motel, and they are already booked for that weekend. Oh well, maybe next year.

Bathing in the James river would be fine, but its not really eco friendly. Plus, water temps in September are in the 60's. I don't think it will fly.

Don't count out onsite showers just yet... That's all I can say right now. Very Happy

We have just about finallized a deal with www.poorboysmudracing.com whcih is about 2 miles from our MAR site. The idea is to have them set up their normal mud racing stuff for the Rovers, not Bigfoot.....and it looks like they want to build a special driving course with some interesting tank traps, etc. There is a large water crossing with a solid bottom, so you can test the snorkle as well. The idea would be that it is open on Saturday and would be included in your entrance fee. Better make sure the mud tires are on! Wish us luck!

AND, we are working on a way to do the showers. We know it is a big plus to have them. We will keep you posted!

Other folks took better photos - it seems that there were a few test drives before a decision was rendered.

How can you argue with a professional competition grade mud pit. It is complete with grassy hill for observing the hilarity.

Side note: Pres and VEEP thrashed through both lanes of the pit in John's Range Rover - both forwards and backwards. (Much to my daughter's enjoyment - mad props) The proprietor took a passing run with his giant diesel Ford dually - and did not make it. [quiet giggle]
