I have a mostly green '69 88 that I'll be working on and hopefully driving more. Drove it about 60 miles last week but it's in need of an exhaust and some frame patching. (And some energy that I'm in somewhat short supply of). Truck is in Madison at a friend's (also former 88 owner) house currently - it's enjoying his lift, welder and power washer.
I'm an Albemarle native, had a red '71 88 with Rover factory winch when my wife and I were dating, sold that about 23 years ago. Mike Boggs gave me a couple of pics of it from MAR several years ago, I think he said it lived in Roanoke.
I used to hang out at Charlie Haigh's shop (Metric Motors) back then before Charlie sold the business and went to Rovers North.
Anyway, hope to meet some folks and see some of your Rovers soon.

wow, small world. Welcome, there are more than a few Series trucks in Roanoke now. Razz I see them now and again out here in Western Albemarle. Boggs has a wide range of cool toys just down the road.

Thanks for the welcome Chuck. I'm about two miles from Mike's business and occasionally see a Rover there, haven't talked to Mike for a couple of years. I worked with Mike in the mid-70's in Charlottesville, bought a 1950 Chevy truck from him that was my only vehicle for two years. Come to think of it, my '71 88 was also my only vehicle for about two years - guess I just like moving slow! (Although, my last British vehicle was a Reynard Formula Ford - went a little faster but I suspect there are those who would say it also moved slow...).

Team Roanoke seems to be larger than ever this year, I think it is up to 20.

I guess I won't make it to MAR, entry fee is a bit much when I don't have a running Rover to participate with.
In fact, the 88 is down to the frame, bulkhead, engine, gearbox and axles. I've found that the bulkhead has more rust down through the top of the dash between the vents and that, coupled with the footbox rust/door post rust/noisy gearbox/frame rust makes it pretty iffy. I'm trying to decide what to do with it, field truck, part it out or what.
Are visitors to MAR allowed for an hour or two? I understand if not (liability insurance, etc.) but thought I'd ask.

Tracey and I did not register last year but we rode up for the Saturday dinner and hung output we didn't ride any trails.

From Roanoke...
I assume the Joe & Dave Legault, Jude, Charlie & Pam, Tracey an I, and don't know who else but we should all get together and caravan!
