Hello all, bought my first Rover earlier this year. Coming from the world of full size trucks and so far I am in love.
My Disco is a 96 with what I believe to be a 2in lift, cut out flares and 285/75/16 tires. Trying to get her up in good mechanical shape due to prior owner neglect.
Have yet to find any local places to become acquainted with the off road qualities of the truck...if you know of any please tell.
Will post some pictures once I put on my fourth flare...charging up the good ole makita for some more hacking.

First of all - welcome!
Where are you located??
MAR 2010 is just around the corner, and it's a great place for novice & expert alike to play and see what their trucks csn do!

I am located in Newport News. I was reading that yearly dues are collected at the MAR each year. Are new member welcome to join at the MAR? I am very interested in attending as well as joining the ROAV.

Ack .... just noticed it was in the title..
Yes, you can join onsite at MAR, but it's cheaper to do everything online before Sept 10th because registration is currently discounted.
You're more than welcome to come to a work weekend to meet some good people and see the trails. The next work weekend is going to be Labor Day weekend.

Won't be able to make the work weekend, the wife and I are headed up to Chincotegue Island. I will definitely do some consulting and see if she is willing to let me make the adventure. I am very eager to test the capabilities of the Rover as I hear it is a world away from full size trucks.

Well now that Earl is heading your way to mess up your weekend -- perhaps you can persuade SWMBO to come to the rally site instead !!!

Ha! just caught that
I can't believe that everyone got so worked up over Earl and we got a bit of rain. From the pictures looks like you guys got some great trails made and that the site looks like it will be a good time.
My big issue now is the wife would like to go to MAR but she doesn't trust the Rover on such a trip. We are hoping to find a trailer to just tow it, that way if something goes wrong we aren't up shit creek without a paddle.

You can also take a look at this site, t4w.proboards.com/index.cgi?, Tidewater Fourwheelers is down your way. The have a bunch of events. The next one is up here in Nelson county at Oak Ridge Estates, VA4wdA Annual. I will be a trail guide in my Defender if you want to join in in the fun with your Disco. It is always great fun to have another Rover at the event. It would be a great shakedown prior to MAR.
